Rome in One Day

– Full-Day Tour with Colosseum, Sistine Chapel and more

Experience Rome in one day

Got only 24 hours to see Rome? Our private Full Day Tour of Rome and the Vatican City introduces you to the very best of what Rome has to offer in one day, with fun and professional tour guides. Together with your friends and loved ones you will see up close the Eternal City’s art masterpieces and visit its world-famous historic sites, including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Piazza Navona. The experience will then continue with a trip to Vatican City, where you will be able to visit the Vatican Museums, home to some of the world’s most important art masterpieces, including the Sistine Chapel, the magnificent St. Peter’s Basilica* and the impressive Square of the same name. The city of Rome is filled with some of the world’s most important art, sculpture and architecture masterpieces. Join us on this Private Rome and Vatican City tour and visit the city in one day. Our One Day in Rome Tour starts at 9am at the Colosseum and takes approximately 7 hours. (We will take a short lunch break around noon**).

THE COLOSSEUM AND THE ROMAN FORUM

You will visit the majestic 2000 years old, 48meters tall amphitheatre, one of the most iconic buildings in the world (read here our Ultimate Guide to the Colosseum!). Built in ten years by Emperor Vespasian and his successor and son Emperor Titus, in its heyday the Colosseum would host gladiator fights, mock sea battles and people vs. beast games for up to 80,000 cheering spectators. Step in and let yourself be transported back in time by our knowledgeable guides whose stories will evoke the sound of the roaring crowds. The tour will continue with a visit of the Roman Forum, the world’s largest excavation site, which stood for centuries at the center of Rome’s public life. We will stop along the way at the Roman Senate, Via Sacra, the Arch of Septimius Severus, the Arch of Constantine, House of the Vestal Virgins and several other attractions. Fron the Ancient city we will then move to Rome city center, because, as we say, Rome was not built in one day, but yes, we can visit Rome in one day with Roma Experience!

PIAZZAS AND FOUNTAINS OF ROME

Rome’s cobblestone streets lined with imposing palazzi and the city’s beautifully-adorned fountains are highlights in their own right. We will stroll along the streets dotted with cafes, restaurants and shops and stop and marvel at the beauty of the iconic Trevi Fountain, go on to admire the sights in Piazza Navona and mingle with the locals in Campo de’ Fiori. We will continue by visiting the Pantheon, Rome’s 2000 years old hallmark and the best preserved Ancient Roman buildings, featuring the world’s largest non-reinforced concrete dome. Our expert tour guide will show you all the most famous streets and hidden corners that you can find in Rome city center, and will tell you everything about the history of the sites you will see and the stories related to them. This is often, and unexpectedly, one of the favorite parts of our full day tour of Rome and Vatican City, because Rome’s very heart can really be as enchanting as the ancient city or the nearby Vatican. At every corner, every step, every turn, there is something that will make your jaws drop and ask your guide: “wait, what is it?,” like children in a candy store!

DISCOVER THE VATICAN

The world’s smallest sovereign state, the Vatican, was once one of Europe’s most powerful. Today its world famed museum houses masterpieces of Roman, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and even contemporary art of incredible value and treasures from the collections of a long line of powerful pontiffs, making us one of the greatest art collections on earth. You will visit Raphael’s Rooms, the Hall of Maps, the Hall of Tapestries, and get to see up close the red porphyry Sarcophagi made for Emperor Constantine’s mother and daughter, the world famous Belvedere Torso and the Laocoön Group, one of the most famous ancient sculptures, hosted by the Vatican since 1506. This pieces of Greek and Roman art have changed the way Renaissance artists of the caliber of Michelangelo and Raphael understood art and created they unparalleled masterpieces (such as for example the Sistine Chapel). So, after visiting the Vatican Museums, our guides will walk you to the undisputed highlight of Vatican’s many treasures, Michelangelo’s awe-inspiring Sistine Chapel (please read here our Ultimate Guide to the Sistine Chapel). We skip the line again, and through a dedicated passage from the Sistine Chapel we will then move to the Basilica of St Peter*. Here you will see another of Michelangelo’s magnificent works, the so-called Pietà, a hallmark of European sculpture, as well as Bernini’s Baldacchino, magnificent mosaics and columns and get to admire the dome, an iconic presence on Rome’s skyline.
