Next week, Italy’s annual Craft Beer Week (Settimana della Birra Artigianale) will provide a focal point for real ale and craft beer fans in the capital and beyond, with a raft of events at participating pubs all over Italy. From March 7-13, hundreds of bars and breweries will be presenting ales, hosting public mash-ins, food pairing, and of course, giving away some beer!

Il Ballo delle Debuttanti: On Sunday March 6th, Luppolo Station in Trastevere will be hosting an exclusive preview event from 18.00 featuring 10 beers from 10 different Italian breweries, with brewers, publicans, experts and beer aficionados on hand to talk punters through a very special range of products. "Bionda del Secchio" night with brewer Birradamare: At popular pizzeria Il Secchio e l’Olivaro in Garbatella on Monday March 7th the house “blonde” Bionda del Secchio will be free all night for customers. You can even have a go behind the pumps if you like! (Secchio e l’Olivaro, Via delle Sette Chiese 118 – Garbatella district)
Open Baladin and Etnia: On Tuesday March 8th, Open Baladin will be hosting a special beer-tasting night with Brewery Etnia, featuring four of the brewery’s tastiest beers. The evening costs €15 a head and space is limited, so booking is essential. (Open Baladin, via degli Specchi, 5-6 – Campo de’ Fiori district)
The Daily Hop hosts Agrilab: Wednesday March 9th is the night to head down the Via Tuscolana to the Daily Hop, where Agrilab Brewery will be there to answer all your questions in the company of some excellent beers and snacks. (Daily Hop, Via Tuscolana 45/454a – Tuscolana district)
Yelp(y) Hour Birra e Polpette: Yelp and Freelions brewery are hosting a get-together at the Factory in Pigneto on Thursday March 10th, pairing beer with a succulent sandwich filled with meat or vegetarian loaf. Anyone who downloads the Yelp app and checks in with it can have a beer and sandwich for free. (The Factory, Piazza dei Condottieri 40/41 – Pigneto district)
Tap takeover at Twenty 2.0: On Friday March 11th, Piccolo Birrificio Clandestino, an excellent Livorno-based brewery, will be bringing a top selection of brews to popular pub Twenty 2.0 off the Via Nomentana. Vintage ales at Saxophone Live Pub: Did you know that vintage ales were a thing? You do now. Turan Brewery is the special guest of Saxophone Live Pub in Prati, with a barrel of aged Dark Strong Belgian Ale from 2011, as well as two other historical beers from the brewery, Kubik and Ultrasonica. Discount beer at Mama Tequila: For the last day of Craft Beer Week, Mama Tequila in the Trionfale area will discount all its remaining beer barrels until the pub is drunken dry. You have been warned! (Mama Tequila, Largo Millesimo 11 – Trionfale district)
